CRAFTING EXCELLENCE
The Off the Deck story began with a passion for innovation and a dedication to excellence. Founded by three industry veterans (Ashley Hare, Alex Hare and Alan Shubotham) with a combined 40+ years of experience in golf entertainment, finance and yachting, our mission was clear: to redefine the golf experience on superyachts.

HANDCRAFTED
IN THE UK
Nestled in the heart of F1 country, our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Silverstone serves as the epicentre of our operations. Here, our visionary team of skilled F1 engineers meticulously handcraft and customise each SeaDriveCX to order.
OUR
STORY
Off the Deck was founded in early 2023 by three specialists who recognised the same problem from different vantage points.
Alex Hare came from a $1bn private equity fund. Ashley Hare, a Chief Mate (Unlimited), had spent sixteen years on deck and bridge aboard private and charter yachts ranging from 50m to 134m. Alan Shubotham an investor in leading indoor golf, had previously built and scaled consumer brands from the ground up.
Between us: over forty years spanning finance, yachting, operations, entrepreneurship, start-ups and golf.
We had each witnessed the rise of off-course golf entertainment ashore. The technology had evolved. The experience had evolved. The social fabric of the game had evolved.
At sea, it had not.
Golf onboard remained comparable to a 1990s driving range experience. A mat, a handful of biodegradable balls and, at best, an inflatable target. For an industry that prides itself on setting standards rather than following them, it felt out of step. Superyachts carried every conceivable toy, jetpacks, submersibles, sea scooters, yet golf had been left behind.
So we decided to build something better.
From the outset, Off the Deck was never about adapting an indoor simulator for marine use. It was about engineering the world’s first commercial-grade golf system designed specifically for superyachts and the marine environment.
Ashley’s years at sea informed every design decision. We understood owner expectations, charter turnarounds, crew workflow, storage constraints, weather exposure and the realities of life on deck. The SeaDriveCX was built to operate seamlessly within that world and never to disrupt it.
Following a seven-figure funding round backed by PGA TOUR winner Taylor Moore and Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee, we embarked on nearly three years of intensive research, development, prototyping and pre-production refinement. In late 2025, the SeaDriveCX entered full production.
Handcrafted near Silverstone, the home of Formula One, the SeaDriveCX is constructed entirely from lightweight carbon fibre and engineered by specialists with F1 pedigree. Fully marinised and IP54 rated, it is designed to perform reliably in demanding conditions, including prolonged sun exposure, wet and salty environments and ambient temperatures up to 44°C.
Weighing just 55kg and requiring no more space than that needed to swing a club, it deploys in minutes from owner request, transforming a swim platform, helideck or private beach into a world-class golfing environment. Powered by the same launch monitor technology trusted by the game’s elite, it delivers uncompromising data and playability.
No installation.
No retrofitting.
No compromise.
Since launch, Off the Deck has been featured across leading global yachting and luxury titles and awarded a Robb Report Best of the Best for Best Marine Toy. More importantly, the SeaDriveCX is now operating on superyachts, in marinas, and with leading luxury cruise operators including Silversea Cruises and Four Seasons Yachts, delivering experiences around the world, 24 hours a day.
But Off the Deck was never conceived as a hardware company.
Our mission is to make Off the Deck synonymous with waterfront golf entertainment. We are building an ecosystem, hardware, software, service, competition, connectivity and accessories, designed to delight owners, charter guests and crew alike.
This is only the beginning.
